This 2 day course has been designed to initially debunk and clarify so called “hate” speech and “violent verses of the  Quran and thereafter enlighten and inform the student on the true beauty, meanings and universal message of the Quran of all who seek to understand the Holy Writ of Islam!

Weekend Ilm Intensive 16 will be held from Saturday, April 2nd 2016, 1:30 pm-6:00pm till Sunday, April 3rd   10:00 am – 4:30 pm, 2016.

Breakfast will be served at 9:30 am on Sunday.

 


WHO ARE THE TEACHERS?

This course will be taught by highly qualified Ulama & Scholars who will combine lecture, interactive learning through activity, readings from the textbook, and self-reflection. The scholars present will be:

ABOUT THE TEXTBOOK

“The best of you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it.”

The first session will begin by introducing the renowned author of the textbook followed by an introduction of the textbook all students will have before them. After discussing the names and the literal and legal definition of the Quran, the instructor will go over the first 13 Prophetic traditions from the collection of 40 expounding upon various Ahadith facilitating  an enlightening discussion on the following: Virtues of learning and teaching ,merits of recitation with and without understanding, how the Quran elevates and debases, Duaa vs recitation, the 4 types of relationships with the Quran,  The mountainous rewards for who stutters whilst reciting, Quran: Your ticket to Paradise, how to ensure the Quran intercedes on your behalf, the reward and obligation of teaching your children and how the Quran will be recited in Paradise!

2. “The Quran is wealth after which there is no poverty.”

This gathering will be initially dedicated in refreshing the students’ memory on the History of the compilation of the Quran from the time of revelation until the Uthmanic compilation whilst refuting any and all orientalist objections and quibbles.  The Instructor will thereafter  go over the Prophetic traditions #14-25 from the collection of 40 expounding upon various Ahadith covering the following:  Jealousy & the Quran,  the tradition of three individuals who will be saved from the terror of the Day Of Judgement, how Barakah and blessings are interconnected with the Quran, the quickest way to return back to  Allah,  who belongs to Allah’s family, how to save yourself from the vilest state of life and the merits of reciting the Quran in night prayer.

3. “The Quran is the cure”

 The 3rd session will commence with logical grounds to prove that the Prophet did not learn the Quran from the Jews and Christians followed by the greatest proof that the Quran was not copied.  The Instructor will thereafter  go over the Prophetic traditions #26-40 from the collection of 40 teaching the last 15 Ahadith from the collection of 40 covering subject matter surrounding: Taking payment for teaching Quran, virtues and how to beautify ones voice while reciting the Quran, 3 ways of purifying your intentions while establishing your relationship with Quran,  reciting from the Mushaf vs reciting from memory, how often should the recitation of Quran be completed, reciting the Quran with sadness, analyzing the tradition of reciting more than one million letters, and a detailed discussion on the Quran and it’s curing nature!

4. Love, Compassion & Pluralism

This gathering will commence by highlighting how the Quran & Sunnah describe the Quran itself followed by exploring the themes of Quranic love, compassion and pluralism. Thereafter a detailed discourse on how to read and approach the Quran will be established covering the following subject matter: What kind of book is the Quran, Stylistic harmony in the Quran, Unifying themes of the Quran, How the Quran is read in Muslim societies, Where to begin if the Quran is new to you, Respecting the Quran and  Muhammad, peace be upon him: Messenger of God and Bringer of the Quran

 5. Quranic Ethics, Human Rights & Society

 This assembly will educate all of the students on general Quranic principles governing Islamic social ethics and will elaborate on family, and marriage ethics, economic justice, social behavior and etiquette of speech and social interaction. Thereafter a discussion on the topic of the Quranic view of sacred history and other religions will be highlighted concluding the session with debunking the so called Quranic “hate” speech regarding Jews, Christians, unbelievers and other faiths/spiritual paths whilst explaining the verses of the transformation of humans to monkeys and pigs.

 6. Conquest and Conversion, War and Peace in the Quran

This session will be dedicated to the at times confusing and at times debated topics of the use of force, Coercion in matters of Religion, Treaties and treaty peoples, Conduct of war and limits of conquest. The session will end with an analytical study of the 20 “violent” verses of Quran and their correct contextualization.

This course is open for Brothers and Sisters. Although 85% of our course attendees are between the ages of 18-35+ the course is open to all mature students who are 16 years of age and above as the acquisition of knowledge is compulsory upon every Muslim (Ibn Majah).
